The bITjAM is a response to a real need in the creative community for a space in which to explore digital arts, creative ideas, collaborations and soundscapes. Carl Plant and Ben McManus are the main animators of the bitjam, playing, organising, publicising, delivering workshops and digitally animating spaces. They are aware that the main aim of biTjAM is about collaborating and sharing ideas, communication through sound and value of experimentation.

Since its inception, biTjAM have been involved in collaborations with visual artists from all over the midlands. Musicians and sound artists from Stoke to Stockholm have travelled to be a part of the experience and have intern continued some of these creative collaborations.

Who’s up for the BBC digital revolution short film competition?

For the first time ever, uncut video for a BBC documentary series, is online NOW for YOU to download and re-edit. Cut it, clip it, mash it, animate it, make fun of it if you like. It’s free to use.

And you can enter our competition.

We’re looking for people to create a trailer for the series or make a short film based on our programme themes.

(Follow these links to find out more about the themes for Programme 1, Programme 2, Programme 3, and Programme 4.)

Your short film or trailer could win a promo spot on the BBC Homepage and be seen by hundreds of thousands of people. The winners will also be invited to attend a documentary masterclass at the BBC and meet with a BBC Multiplatform Commissioning Executive. Just make something that educates, informs and entertains.

To inspire you we’ve commissioned short film and mash-up masters, Cassetteboy and Barry Pilling, to create a couple of short films using our rushes - you can find them on our blog (you can also find them on YouTube). Please note that these short films were commissioned by us to provide inspiration - they aren’t entered into the competition.

Check the site every week for new clips, or follow @BBCDigRev on Twitter for notifications of new video available.

Please note that the name ‘Digital Revolution’ is a working title, and may change, so we recommend that you do not use that name or make reference to our url in your short film or trailer.
