The bITjAM is a response to a real need in the creative community for a space in which to explore digital arts, creative ideas, collaborations and soundscapes. Carl Plant and Ben McManus are the main animators of the bitjam, playing, organising, publicising, delivering workshops and digitally animating spaces. They are aware that the main aim of biTjAM is about collaborating and sharing ideas, communication through sound and value of experimentation.

Since its inception, biTjAM have been involved in collaborations with visual artists from all over the midlands. Musicians and sound artists from Stoke to Stockholm have travelled to be a part of the experience and have intern continued some of these creative collaborations.

    We love art

What a fantastic night guys, the mix of live art, visuals, soundscapes, beats and general sonic happenings worked a treat.

Thanks to everyone who took part in whatever capacity that was, it made the night a real success. We have lots of photos due to hit the net real soon so keep an eye out for them.

The artwork from the night will be on display at Staffordshire University on the 21st March as part of the Talking shop celebration, you are all invited to come along and celebrate the range of creative learning projects that are currently happening.

Keep an eye out for another Antsartjam in the future!

Live draw artists bio’s for tonights bITjAM

We are pleased to announce tonight’s ‘live drawing’ artists. Tonight’s special bITjAM, Antsartjam has been made possible through the Talking Shop programme set of events and projects, so thanks to all involved in making this a reality.

    Antonio Roberts

“Antonio Roberts graduated from Staffordshire University in 2004 where
he studied Multimedia Graphics.  Since graduating he has explored his
practice as an experimental software artist and in 2009 formed the
Birmingham based hackerspace called fizzPOP where he continues to
explore creative uses of technology in a collaborative environment.”

    Iona Makiola

I view my role as an artist as one of instigator and facilitator; providing a platform for participants to not only actively engage in but create works themselves.

    Martyn Yates

Fine Artist. In my work I use video, light and sound to create an abstract representation the containment of emotion within the self. Investigating the moods and feelings generally kept from others.

We also have special audio performances from synth man Philsy (he travels to Europe to have extra digits surgically added, he’s now on 18!), also Pete C who has a dark side to his audio set and of course we will focus on an improvised audio/visual installation throughout the evening.

    Oh and it’s FREE

(Almost) last call for live draw artists

Last call for live drawing artists for next weeks bITjAM, for the audio we have Peter Callaghan performing his first rather dark solo set and then joining the improv, we have an interactive sound installation and free goodies to get creative with.
